Barley straw bales are ideal for improving water quality! Naturally occurring organisms will decompose the lignin in the barley releasing humic substances into the water. With exposure to sunlight and oxygen the compounds are converted into low levels of hydrogen peroxide, modifying your pond’s chemistry and improving water quality.
Directions: One, single, 1 pound bale treats approximately 1,000 gallons of pond water. Bale lasts three to four months, apply second bale four weeks after first treatment to avoid interruption in water quality.
