Bentonite clay works in ponds by creating a gel with low permeability that sinks to the bottom of the pond filling gaps and cracks. Bentonite clay is a water absorbent that creates a very strong seal on pond and lake soil. Bentonite clay is used to line new and old ponds, and to seal ponds that cannot be drained due to the size of the body of water.
Application
For simple area seals, apply by spreading the Bentonite clay over the surface of the affected area and allow it to sink. Application rate varies depending on the type of soil of the pond and how pourous it is.
